Lindsay Lohan struck a plea deal that she simply CANNOT fulfil. It is impossible to do the lockdown rehab she promised in court because that kind of facility does not exist in the US outside of the prison system.
No non-jail rehab facilities will keep patients in against their will anywhere in the U.S. – ad yet that’s exactly what Lindsay Lohan promised the judges.
Lindsay’s lawyer, Mark Heller, appears to have made false representations to prosecutors in telling them that he could get his client into a 90-day lockdown rehab center in NYC. Yet no private rehab facilities in NYC or indeed in the US will detain patients against their will.
You have to be in a prison rehab for that. To get in prison rehab you have to have a felony record. Lindsay doesn’t have one of those. It seems this former ‘Mean Girl’ is just too good to get herself the lockdown rehab she promised to do.
Dr Drew told TMZ on the matter: “There is no rehab that will hold you against your will, unless they feel the person is a suicide risk, and in that case they can hold the individual for 72 hours.”
So, here’s where it gets sticky for Lindsay Lohan. Her actual sentence is 90 days in jail, but the judge said he’d allow her to complete her sentence within a lockdown rehab. At the time, prosecutors believed such a facility was available when they offered the plea deal.
A typical 90-day rehab program was seen as no good because she’s tried those before twice and never succeeded in getting clean. She snuck out of both the Betty Ford clinic and Cirque Lodge. Add to that the fact that Lindsay is still drinking, and you see why the judge ordered a lockdown facility.
Shame no one did their homework well enough to discover that lockdown rehab doesn’t exist. Prosecutors are now reevaluating the plea deal to determine what they want to do. Jail is looking a likely option for Lindsay Lohan now.
