If you’ve been watching Glee, you’ll know that Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) has a new love interest. Jesse St. James (Jonathan Groff) is, or was, the lead singer of rival glee club, Vocal Adrenaline. St. James transferred to McKinley High so that he could be with Rachel Berry, but keep your eyes on him, he may not have pure intentions.
Michele and Groff seem to have a natural chemistry, like they have known each other for years. They have. The two played the roles of Wendla and Melchior in the Broadway musical, Spring Awakening, from 2006 until 2008. According to a number of interviews with the two, they created a special and a strong bond and have remained friends since the show.
So is there any romantic connection between Michele and Groff? Michele seems to dote on him in every interview she can, speaking of their intimate and personal connection during Spring Awakening. Apparently she helped him to get his role in Spring Awakening, and he helped her to catch the amazing role of Rachel Berry on Glee. When Michele appeared on the Jimmy Fallon Show on May 5, 2010, she mentioned that Jonathan Groff had accompanied her to the show. Sounds like romance, right?
While Michele and Groff are attached at the hip and claim to be best friends, the buck stops there. In Groff’s biography, it is noted that he is an openly gay male. While their relationship is much more than professional, it seems that they are not romantically involved, but yet they still have an undeniable chemistry.
They make such a good couple onscreen and onstage, and with all Lea has to offer it’s too bad Jonathan isn’t interested!
