Congratulations are in order this morning for Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. He was last night crowned the winner of America’s Got Talent 2011. The win was probably expected (I predicted it yesterday, anyway), but that takes nothing away from Murphy’s victory. In fact, it confirms for me what a worthy winner he is.
Soul crooner Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. beat dance and illusion group Silhouettes into second place on the NBC reality show, and he was under stably thrilled with the win.
“Thank you so much for letting me be myself,” Landau said after he was announced as the winner of America’s Got Talent 2011.
Well, you’re welcome, Landau, because what you are yourself is genuinely nice guy with a soulful voice that is easy to listen to. He will surely be a hit in the Las Vegas run that is part of his AGT winner’s prize.
Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. seemed the only person genuinely surprised by his win. He put his face into his hands as soon as he heard he’d won. But, after composing himself, he told Nick Cannon that the win, a $1 million prize and a headlining show in Las Vegas, was very big to his family
Uh, Landau, unless you’re already huge in showbiz, such a prize is big in ANYONE’S family!
“This is so important to us and it’s been a long hard journey,” the former car washer said. “I’ve been busting my butt out here doing this, like ever since I was a kid, and it’s finally paying off,” Murphy said.
And we’re all pleased for Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., aren’t we? The electricity bills may go up on the Las Vegas theater when his name appears in lights but this guy was born to be in showbiz. He just values it all the more because he had to bust his butt to get a Las Vegas show. America’s Got Talent really does make dreams come true and this year at least, it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
Congratulations, Landau. See you in Vegas!
