The “Judas” pop star will join Jimmy Iovine, who is the boss of her record label, in mentoring the final four contestants ahead of their live performances this week. She should be able to pass on a wealth of experience on stage presence and putting on a spectacular show as well as some fantastic singing.
Lady Gaga (25) is expected to take a particular interest in the progress of contestant Hayley Reinhart, who performed the “Born This Way” star’s as yet unreleased song, “You and I” on “American Idol” last week. She received mixed reviews for the brave move of singing an unknown song but her performance was strong enough for the public to vote her straight through to the next round.
Lady Gaga will mentor the finalists, James Durbin, Scotty McCreery, Haley Reinhart and Lauren Alaina, through the next round.
On Wednesday’s live show, they will have to sing songs written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, who wrote most of Elvis Presley’s hits and also Ben E. King’s classic hit, “Stand By Me”, so we should be in for a great night. The song choices may favor Scotty McCreery, who does a mean Elvis impersonation and Jacob Lusk, eliminated last week, would have been a sight to behold on “Stand by Me”!
But Jacob’s not here, and so we have Scotty, Lauren, Haley and James who will benefit from Lady Gaga’s considerable experience. We can also let you know now that the “Born This Way” star has been booked to appear on the AI finale, on May 26.
