Lady Gaga’s “Judas” Video Not as Controversial as Anticipated (VIDEO)!

Lady Gaga’s hotly anticipated “Judas” video has been released. It was originally intended to be unveiled on the network during prime time on Thursday May 5th and then again at 11:30 p.m., but of course it was leaked.

We didn’t want to bring you the leak in case it turned out to be a hoax, so here is the real thing.

As it turns out, the hints we had pre-release were not exactly what we got. Lady Gaga had said that it was “a motorcycle Fellini film” and that it portrayed “a betrayal of a prophecy fulfilled.” What it is, though, is a pure pop video, albeit a pretty good one.

The subject matter is a little sensitive. As you’d imagine from the song title, the “Judas” video is an artistic re-imagining of the betrayal of Jesus Christ by Judas Iscariot. In it, Lady Gaga plays Mary Magdalene, riding along on motorcycles with Christ and his apostles, all dressed in studded leathers.

Significantly, Judas races ahead of the pack. Stopping at an “”Electric Chapel,” Lady Gaga attempts to warn Christ of his apostle’s impending betrayal. It is up to you to decide whether he listens. What we get then is a segue into an extended sequence rife with religious iconography and, of course, dance.

Rather than anything too controversial or edgy, here you will find something of a tribute to the pop star’s Catholic upbringing. Lady Gaga wasn’t lying or teasing us when she said the video was “meant more to celebrate faith than it is to challenge it.”
