The newly appointed judge on the upcoming US “X Factor”, L.A. Reid, has inadvertently disclosed that Cheryl Cole will be the third judge on the show, it seems. Cheryl would sit alongside Reid and Simon Cowell when the show begins filming in September 2011.
As we previously reported, Reid was the first judge to be confirmed after he stepped down from his role as CEO of Island Def Jam records to take a position on the reality TV show panel.
Now, Reid let slip in a British newspaper interview exactly his fellow judges so far would be:
“We’re gonna compete against ‘American Idol’ just fine. I’m very confident. But along with Simon Cowell and Cheryl, I don’t know who the other judge is.”
The only “Cheryl” who has ever been named in connection with the “X Factor” judging role is UK pop star, Cheryl Cole. However, her chances of securing the top job seemed increasingly remote as more and more alternatives were named. Simon Cowell was never happy with that. He has taken Cole under his swing since her messy public split from top English soccer star, Ashley Cole, and he made no secret of the fact that he wanted her for the judging panel. She is well known in the UK but has a low profile in the States, which made “X Factor” bosses wary of choosing her.
It seems, according to L.A. Reid, that Cowell was effective in convincing the US TV company in charge of launching the American “X Factor” that Cole would be an “instant success” in the US.
So what are your thoughts about a relatively unknown Brit, the second to be appointed, as a judge on the US “X Factor”?
