The red carpet event is set to take place in New York on August 13 ahead of the movie’s limited U.S. release on August 17.
But security staff have been told to keep cheating Stewart away from the premiere and after party, in case she attempts to talk to her estranged boyfriend and create a media frenzy that would detract from the movie release.
An industry insider said Robert and Kristen have been communicating by cell phone, but she is not allowed anywhere near the red carpet or the after party.
The premiere will be 26-year-old Robert Pattinson first public appearance since news broke last month that his girlfriend and ‘Twilight’ co-star Stewart had cheated on him with her ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ director, Rupert Sanders.
Kristen released a grovelling public apology in the wake of the scandal, describing it as a ‘momentary indiscretion’ with the filmmaker, who to Liberty Ross and has two children with her.
Yesterday Pattinson’s representatives denied reports the actor was pulling out of a press campaign associated with the film.
A spokesman told People.com: ‘Cosmopolis is a film that Robert is very proud of and looks forward to supporting. No confirmed engagements have been cancelled. Any reports to the contrary are inaccurate.’
The film, based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Don DeLillo, is directed by David Cronenberg and also stars Juliette Binoche and Sarah Gadon. It initially premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, drawing mixed early reactions from critics. The drama already had a limited release in the UK on June 15. Pattinson plays the lead role of disturbed billionaire Eric Packer.
