Kim Kardashian is one of the most over-exposed celebrities on the planet. The 31-year-old reality TV star interviewed with V magazine to discuss reality television and how it has a place in the entertainment business. She talked about the attention she gets being a personality who is “famous for being famous”…. and stands up for reality TV as true entertainment.
“It’s always funny to me when people say that I’m famous for being famous,” Kim told V. “I think it’s fascinating, because it’s still entertainment, you know? It’s fun to see the progression of that idea.”
Kardashian said she’s not “naïve to the fact” that she’s “not a singer or an actress or anything like that.” As she pointed out, she never claimed to be something she’s not.
“I think [reality] is still a new form of entertainment that was kind of an unexpected thin,” Kim added.
She makes that comparison to “rap music.”
“When rap music first came out, people were like, ‘We don’t understand this, what is this, it’s just a fad.’ But rap music is definitely here to stay, and I think reality shows have proven they are as well. But when something is newer, people don’t really understand it,” Kim reasoned.
Kim Kardashian doesn’t agree that reality stars will never get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She said since she heard a quote basically backing up that thought, she’s more determined to see it happen.
Kim concluded, “So, of course I’m so competitive that I think that it would be a huge achievement and a goal that anyone would want. I would love to break that mold.”
Is Kardashian dreaming or will there ever be a day reality TV stars will be as respected as actors and singers in the entertainment industry? Reality television is thought to have taken away from those who made movies and TV what it is today. It’s all about fan base and what viewers want to see on their TVs. It’s really not fair to blame the people who became famous for playing themselves.
