Katy is going through a painful divorce from the Get Him To The Greek star Russell Brand. In light of that, she made an announcement via Twitter that she would not be attending Wednesday’s People’s Choice Awards, at which she is nominated for seven awards.
“Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People’s Choice Awards. I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS,” the Firework singer Tweeted on Monday.
It’s been a difficult couple of weeks for the pop star. Her estranged husband, Russell Brand, filed for divorce on December 30; and her deeply-religious parents Keith and Mary, reportedly made anti-Semitic comments to the congregation delivering a sermon at Westlake, Ohio’s Church on the Rise last week.
“You know how to make the Jew jealous? Have some money, honey. You go to L.A. and they own all the Rolex and diamond places. Walk down a part of L.A. where we live, and it is so rich it smells. You ever smell rich? They are all Jews, hallelujah. Amen,” he reportedly said.
Add to this the fact that Keith Perry was earlier publicly commenting on Katy and Russell’s divorce and you can see how much stress she is under. She felt forced to issue a Tweet stating that no one, not even her family, speaks for her. The rest is just speculation.
But apparently what is not just speculation is that Katy Perry will not be attending The People’s Choice Awards, which airs on CBS on Wednesday at 9/8c.
