The Global Language Monitor, a Texas company that tracks word usage trends around the world, has traced how many times Kate Middleton has been mentioned in different types of media over the last three months. This includes blogs and social media networks. She is the one making all the headlines with almost 40 million mentions of her name on the Internet so far this year.
That is more than her husband-to-be, Prince William, and her late mother-in-law Diana, Princess of Wales, in terms of online popularity. She is just two per cent ahead of her fiancé, but of course, William has been around a lot longer. She has caught him up pretty quickly! The rest of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince Harry and Camilla Parker Bowles are nowhere in sight in terms of Internet presence this year.
Middleton’s media mentions also surpass those of First Lady, Michelle Obama.
The only media Kate Middleton hasn’t conquered yet is Internet news media, where Prince William and Prince Charles are currently ahead of Middleton. However, all that could change once the royal wedding takes place on April 29.
So what are people saying about Kate Middleton?
Of course, most of the talk is about her upcoming wedding to Prince William. Next to that is the interest around her being a “commoner” and what that means. Next, are the searches for bikini shots of Kate on holiday with Prince William.
