Kate yesterday dropped a big hint that she is expecting a girl and that has caused huge excitement among royal fans as she reportedly stopped herself from saying the word “daughter” as she accepted a teddy bear from a well-wisher during a trip to Grimsby, England.
Kate (31) is five months pregnant. She let her guard down after being handed a soft toy by a member of the public.
Sandra Cook, who was standing next to the woman who gave the Duchess the present, said she overheard her say: “Thank you, I will take that for my d…” before stopping herself.
Ms Cook (67), told the Times newspaper: “I said to her ‘You were going to say daughter, weren’t you?’ and she said ‘No, we don’t know’. I said ‘Oh I think you do’, to which she said ‘We’re not telling’.”
The royal slip-up came outside the National Fishing Heritage Centre in Grimsby where crowds had waited to catch a glimpse of the royal. Her baby bump was visible beneath a chocolate-coloured three-quarter length Hobbs coat and during her time in the Lincolnshire town she also visited a fire station and a school.
Inside the fishing museum the Duchess met more local people, and this time, well-wishers are sure Kate mentioned a baby boy. Katy Forrester told the Grimsby Telegraph: “I swear she said it was a boy.” She added: “I asked her if the baby had been kicking. I swear she replied ‘Yes, he is, very much so’ but no-one else heard. Either I misunderstood it or Kate is trying to confuse us all.”
So is Kate Middleton expecting a daughter? Is she just trying to throw us off the scent? UK bookmakers are already taking large bets on the sex of the royal baby.
