The newlywed Princess Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, changed into a different outfit for her evening wedding reception but kept the bridal feel and coloring. The more informal party is a chance for the young couple and their family and friends to party the night away in private after what Catherine called “a great day”. Again, the Royal newlyweds had time to stop and talk to people on their way to the party, telling photographers that she was glad that there was none of the forecast rain.
When Catherine left Clarence House with her husband William, she was wearing another Sarah Burton dress: this time it was a strapless white satin evening dress with a wide circle skirt and diamante embroidered detailing at the waist. Over that she wore a short white angora cardigan to ward off the evening chills and complete the flattering look.
Princess Catherine and Prince William will now be able to let their hair down at a sit-down dinner and party for three hundred of the couple’s family and friends. It is a “black tie” event, so the men will largely be in tuxedos or military dress and the women will wear evening gowns.
Queen Elizabeth II has left the youngsters to their own devices tonight. She has allowed Prince William and Catherine to take over Buckingham Palace for the weekend. She has headed off for another of her royal residences and so will not be there to hear Prince Harry’s eagerly anticipated best man’s speech.
What do you think of Kate’s reception dress? Do you like it better than her wedding dress?
