Yeater (20) recently filed a paternity suit alleging that the Canadian teen pop star is the father of her 3-month-old son, Tristyn. Plenty of people have made counter-allegations that this is not true and that she is just a gold-digger out to dirty Justin Bieber’s squeaky clean image.
But whether it is true or not that Justin Bieber as a baby son with her, Mariah Yeater may wish she had not raised this issue as it could get her in a whole heap of trouble. She may be investigated for statutory rape over their alleged 30-second tryst backstage at one of Bieber’s concerts in California, October 2010.
That would have made Justin Bieber just 16-years-old at the time of their reported encounter, and Maria Yeater would have been 19.
The age of consent in California is 18, so in that state, Justin Bieber had illegal sex, if it happened at all. Under California state law, any individual who has unlawful sex with a minor and is not more than three years older than him or her (as is the case here with Mariah Yeater) is guilty of a misdemeanor offense.
She could serve up to a one-year jail sentence if found guilty, and a paternity test could be proof positive of her guilt.
Of course, Justin Bieber has denied everything. He has until December 15 to take a paternity test voluntarily and avoid court. Meanwhile, Mariah Yeater has apparently received death threats from Bieber fans.
