We’d like to wish Justin Bieber a very happy 17th birthday today. We’re also pleased to tell you his philanthropic wish that his fans would donate something to charity in recognition of the event. It’s the same request he’s also making of his family and friends so you can really honor the occasion of Justin’s birthday and do some good.
The “Baby” hit-maker is aware his dedicated fans may wish to give him gifts but he’d rather we all marked the occasion in a way which will do more good, and donate some money to his favorite charity. “Charity: Water” (http://www.charitywater.org/donate/) is a non-profit organization which aims to get clean, safe drinking water to those people in developing countries who would otherwise not have access to this life-giving essential.
Helping out needn’t cost you the earth, either. Just $17 is all Justin Bieber is asking as he turns 17. Or you can give as much as you feel able to “Charity: Water”. It’s working, too. Justin Bieber aimed to raise $17,000 in his birthday efforts and that target was already reached last night.
Bieber says, “I really want my birthday to be all about helping others. Instead of asking for gifts, I’m asking friends, family and fans to consider donating $17 for my 17th birthday to help make a change.”
He’s done his research too. On his charities page, Justin states how, ever day, over 4,000 children (not including adults) die of water-borne diseases.
With his charity, 100% of the money donated goes to help build safe drinking water supplies in developing countries. Through the project website you will be able to get the GPS of any projects funded and see photos of how your donation is helping people in need.
“I want to make my birthday matter this year – let’s make it so more kids can grow up to have a 17th birthday like me. Join me to make a change,” says Justin Bieber.
We couldn’t have put it better ourselves so we’re off to make a donation now and wish Justin Bieber a very happy birthday. How about you?
