Bieber Fever apparently knows no bounds. It has been announced today that one seriously obsessed fan has paid US$40,668 for just one lock of the “Baby” hit-maker’s hair. The proceeds will go to the Gentle Barn Foundation, an animal rescue charity in California so Justin’s charitable spree continues.
The single lock of Justin Bieber’s hair was auctioned last month on eBay by Ellen DeGeneres and the bidding has now closed. Within one hour of going under the hammer during an unexpected visit by the singer to the “Ellen” talk show, his shorn off hair lock had already made an incredible US $1,000.
The identity of the successful bidder has not been revealed but it is also known that as part of the sale he or she will also get to meet Canadian pop star in person. So that actually means they get quite a good deal for what they paid as personal appearances are rare and certainly not cheap! But one has to wonder who among Justin Bieber’s fans could afford to pay over $40k for anything. Teenage girls and younger is his usual demographic so perhaps we can expect the hair to go on sale again soon!
The news of the charity effort may once again boost Justin Bieber’s Twitter following. It is alleged that when he shed his famous mop-top haircut, he lost over 80,000 followers who disapproved of his new haircut. However, when he has almost 8 million others following him, would that bother Justin? It doesn’t bother us. He’s hot, either way, and with his new haircut he actually looks 17. The mop-top look was a little too pre-pubescent for our liking now he is openly dating. You lucky girl, Selena Gomez.
So what do you think to Justin Bieber auctioning off a lock of is hair? Would you have bought it? What would you do with it if you were the successful bidder?
