Jim Carrey to Appear in ‘The Office’ Finale

In the much anticipated season-ender, another big name has been added to “The Office” finale – Jim Carrey will appear as a job interviewee looking to replace Michael Scott. He is just the latest celebrity actor name to be thrown into the melting pot of “The Office” finale so it could be pretty interesting how it all turns out.

That makes six celebrity cameos in one episode. That is a half a dozen famous faces new to the office so far, just in case you were counting. Jim Carey will join the likes of Ricky Gervais, Catherine Tate, Will Arnett, Ray Roman and James Spader for this special finale episode. But you may have to watch carefully to spot them among an already huge ensemble cast.

How is it all going to work? Giving each of these people significant airtime in an hour long show would seem to leave little wiggle room for the main characters, or for closing out their stories. Even if they get a minute each, that’s a lot to take away from the main story lines and characters that we have grown to expect in The Office, and for whom I want to see some closure as the series ends, never to appear on our screens again.

I’m not sure how these cameos will work for the finale. Sure, the program makers want to go out on a bang. But will it spoil what has been up to now a rather intimate feel among the cast? An office is usually pretty small!
