Sometimes it’s useful to have a famous Dad. Jane Carrey (24) daughter of actor Jim Carrey, got through her American Idol audition and is headed to Hollywood. But along the way, she has already received the star treatment.
Jane was not treated just like any other American Idol 2012 season 11 hopeful.
Some of the other contestants camp out for days in the hope of trying to convince the judges that they have what it takes, but Jane got special treatment.
There was no sleeping outside for her, no lining up for hours. Basically, she booked an appointment for her American Idol audition and she showed up, fresh as a daisy and ready to shine.
However, the judges may not have known about Jane’s special treatment, although she was given VIP access by the show’s producers.
Jane, who is Jim’s daughter with his first wife, Melissa Womer, was given a time to audition. She showed up on time and did the business.
This preferential treatment came to light after a video of Jane surfaced in which she said that it is not always easy to be the daughter of a Hollywood A-lister.
“It was definitely fun growing up with him as a father, he’s not the most extravagant celebrity so it’s been fairly normal – fairly,” she said, before admitting that she had struggled at times growing up in Jim Carrey’s shadow.
“The last name definitely helps and hurts.”
She explained how it makes her feel pressure to perform well, just so she can be sure she succeeded on her own merits. But in the case of American Idol, having a famous Dad definitely helped.
Jim Carrey is said to be very excited about Jane sharing her talents on American Idol 2012.
“I can’t wait for the world to understand what she has. Way to go. Oh my god this is going to be an exciting year,” he said.
