Sources say that the Jersey Shore star has checked into an inpatient treatment program.
A rep for The Situation has so far refused to confirm that Mike is in rehab. He just says that he “has spent the past several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule.”
Like most of theJerseyShore stars, Mike Sorrentino has been on a non-stop party train since the show debuted on MTV 2 years ago, drinking and making paid appearances at nightclubs all over the world. Mike makes anywhere from 15K up to a whopping 50k per nightclub appearance.
But insiders say that Mike was acting paranoid on the set of Jersey Shore, and that was just one sign of his substance abuse. Friends say his drinking spiralled out of control during filming of season 5, which was initially intended to be the final season.
However, MTV has just announced Jersey Shore is returning for a sixth season, which is scheduled to start shooting this summer.
