Jacob Lusk Voted Off American Idol 2011: Fans Speak Out!

Jacob Lusk was an incredibly performer and an all-around great guy but his undeniable talent and charming personality couldn’t keep him in the American Idol competition any longer. The loveable singer was voted off AI tonight, it was just announced.

In the bottom two were Jacob and – shockingly enough – Lauren Alaina. Lauren has coasted through the competition with relatively no troubles so far, which is likely why she teared up when Ryan announced it was her and Jacob in danger of elimination this week.

Lauren’s fans screamed loud as Ryan announced that she was safe for another week while fans of Lusk stood surprised and devastated that their favorite contestant would no longer be competing each week.

Still competing in the competition are Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery (I’m a little surprised he made it this far considering he’s been so niche in his song choices), James Durbin and Haley Reinhart.

Who do you think will win American Idol 2011 – and do you think that Jacob deserved to be eliminated tonight?

Past time for Jacob to go home. I’m glad Lauren made it. Her fans need to
vote as often as possible. Don’t know if everyone is aware of the level of
devastation in her home base due to the tornados. Many of her fans are now
homeless or dealing with storm damage. Many of the phones are still out and
they cannot call. Also if she makes it to the top 3 on her home visit she
is going to do a benefit. If you are a fan please vote

LONG overdue! I was starting to cringe as he performed. Same over-emotional expression, same awkward dance moves, same high notes held for too long. Jacob has a strong voice but certainly not my thing. And I was turned off him as soon as I found out he had his probation cut short to appear on AI at all (as I reported here).

Jacob is a great performer… But I am not really a big fan of him. I’m happy Scotty and Lauren are still IN the competition! Way to go to the two of you!
