It was a bad weekend for actor, Nicolas Cage (47) in New Orleans, where he is staying with his wife, Alice, as he films his new movie, “Medallion”. He was so drunk in the early hours of Saturday morning that he forgot where he lived and his loud argument with his wife over the confusion led to his arrest. He was subsequently charged with domestic abuse battery, disturbing the peace and public drunkenness.
Apparently, the trouble started when the couple were standing outside what Nicolas insisted was their rented property. When Alice disagreed about where they were staying, he grabbed her arm and pulled her towards the property. Alice was uninjured, but then Nicolas began hitting parked vehicles and tried to get into a taxi.
Onlookers, one of them a dispatcher for United Cabs, alerted nearby police officers. They saw how drunk Cage was and order him out of the taxi. Cage then began yelling and goading the cops to arrest him. They obliged and took him to Central Lock-up.
He was released at 12:35 pm local time on $11,000, which was paid for by Duane “Dog” Chapman, star of the reality TV show, “Dog the Bounty Hunter.” His wife, Beth, alluded to the bail out, Tweeting, “My guy just walked out of the jail. Damn New Orleans. 8 hours. Holy cow, that’s a lot of time to process one guy.”
Cage is due in court on May 31 to answer the charges of domestic abuse battery, disturbing the peace and public drunkenness.
