Schuster found a stash of bridal magazines in a cupboard, and he asked Emma about them. She lied. And he said we are obviously headed in that direction. But why haven’t I met your parents? Ummm. Wow. She tries to come up with an excuse, but can’t. Cause she was talking to them the other night.
The gang is anxiously awaiting the audition results. Will Rachel take the lead? Can it be possible that Mercedes will steal the show? She certainly did.
Brittany corners Rachel while at Kurt’s locker and asks who she will support with her student council vote. Brittany and her sidekick have a great line that there has only been male student council presidents and there was a change needed. Rachel looks surprised. Will the cheerleaders surprise the rest of the student body too, and sweep the votes away from Kurt? Will Girls Run the World, like the dance number suggests?
The Glee Club is eagerly practicing for Nationals all the while they wait to see who gets the lead for the school musical. Will West Side Story throw a curve ball in all of the usual leads’ plans? Kurt and Rachel think they have it in the bag, but do they?
Mercedes and Rachel have to go back for another try out. Rachel still tries to make it look like she has the upper hand. Mercedes refuses her hug and says hug me after I get the role.
Michael’s dad threatens to take him out of Glee Club if he can’t get his grades up. Michael is playing football, but his heart is in dance and the musical. He tries out for Riff, and has to sing as well in his audition. He stuns the judges with his singing and his dance ability.
It’s booty camp time and the pressure is on. Dancers are practicing but Mercedes can’t get the moves right. Then she turns on Schuster when he tells her she needs to do better. Schuster says if she leaves, she is out of Glee Club. Yikes!
Michael’s mom shows up at school and catches him in the dance room. She asks him what he is doing. He tells her he doesn’t want to be a surgeon or a lawyer and is surprised by her reaction. It comes down to the audition. Mercedes and Rachel face off on stage with most of the Glee Club watching. They think an epic battle is going to happen. And they are probably right. We know Rachel has a strong personality, but Mercedes is showing confidence and some sass with what she wants too. Who sounds better? On the way out, Rachel says Mercedes sounded better. She marches in to coach’s office the next morning and says she wants to talk to her. Will Rachel concede defeat like Kurt did in the role of Tony?
Emma comes home to see Schuster has four table settings at the table. He has taken the bull by the horns and invited her parents. He thought she was hiding him, but in reality, she admitted she was ashamed for him. They are ginger preservationists. Meaning – they prefer to be only in the company of redheads. Schuster asks them if they realize they are racist? And that maybe they shouldn’t call their daughter freaky deaky but instead help her through her OCD problems.
Rachel realizes that she isn’t going to get the part of Maria. She decides to go head to head with Kurt for the student class president job instead. Kurt calls her out on it. She said she will make him the VP. Nice. Kurt says he hopes she is happy with the memories of throwing her friends under the bus.
Mercedes says congratulations to Rachel, she didn’t want the part. But Rachel doesn’t know if she wants to drop out of the student council elections against Kurt.
The audition results are out! Blaine gets the role of Tony. Who gets Maria?
