Glee Gay Sex Sparks Right Wing Outrage

Don’t say you didn’t see this coming like a zillion miles away. As soon as we knew Glee was going to feature gay sex, we knew the right wing moral minority would be up in arms about it. Pre-watershed gay sex? Gah!

We may be Gleeks here but we’re duty bound to tell you the reaction. Just to see what you think.

Glee 3 last night did something new on prime time television. It suggested that two gay teenagers, Kurt and Blaine, had sex for the first time. It was always going to be controversial, and true to form, the episode has sparked outrage among right wing groups.

On last night’s Glee, in an episode entitled The First Time, Chris Colfer’s character, Kurt, apparently had sex with his boyfriend, Blaine, played by Darren Criss.

Shock, horror!

No, we didn’t see them get down and dirty. We just saw them lying down together and roll around a bit after having talked about having their first time together. It’s clearly inferred they have done the deed.

Curiously, so did Rachel and Finn, although that isn’t drawing anywhere near as much publicity or comment.

Dan Gainor of the Culture and Media Institute said

“This is just the latest example of Glee creator Ryan Murphy pushing his own personal pro-gay agenda on the American public – this week alone including gay teen sex and a gay bar.”

He doesn’t believe that kind of thing goes on among high school kids.

Colfer was unrepentant about the portrayal of the gay sex. A Golden Globe and two Emmy nominations tell him he’s doing OK in that role, surely? But he said he expected to hear from TV watchdogs over the latest Glee episode. However, he felt it was sweet and tame, compared to what could have been shown.

Ryan Murphy was much more outspoken:

“Hopefully I have made it possible for somebody on broadcast television to do a rear-entry scene in three years. Maybe that will be my legacy.”

Thoughts?

God Americans are idiots. “Ryan Murphy pushing his own personal pro-gay agenda on the American public” and that’s you pushing your antigay agenda. What of it? If people know that gay couples go through the same issues in a relationship that straight couples do then maybe there will be less hate towards them from people like this piggot
