Gladys Knight Eliminated From Dancing With The Stars 2012 In Motown Week

Oh the irony: Gladys Knight, the woman who practically eats, sleeps and breathes and pretty much embodies the spirit of Motown, was voted out of this season on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ in Motown week.

After the judges’ scores and the public’s votes were added up, Gladys and her professional dance partner Tristan McManus found themselves in the bottom two with Roshon Fegan and his professional dance partner Chelsie Hightower.

That meant they faced the dance duel, with the judges voting who to save.

Roshon won the judges’ vote 2 to 1, so Gladys Knight, who had jived for the duel, was out of the competition. She is the fifth celebrity of the season to be eliminated.

“It’s a miracle, and we experience those every single day if we know how to recognize them as such,” Knight said. “It’s definitely a miracle.”

“I got a chance to experience the dance world, the competition of it and that kind of stuff,” she added. “I don’t have as much of that in my personal environment because I control that.”

The Empress of Soul had danced a Cha Cha, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Tango and Samba but it was the notorious Rumba which saw her eliminated. But she seemed to have taught Tristan a few things.

“Be good to people – and that’s everybody who’s here, not just the people you’re sharing the stage with for a certain amount of time,” McManus said. “Everyone who helps – who brings you your shoes. Everyone who says hello to you in the morning time.”

Knight said she will miss the people she shared the dance floor with.

“In giving this up, it’s a lot I’m going to miss,” she said. “But I’ll miss Tristn most of all.”
