Gia Allemand died from an apparent suicide Wednesday. The former “Bachelor” contestant from Jake Pavelka’s season was 29. She was admitted to the hospital Monday night after her boyfriend, Ryan Anderson, discovered her hanging in their home. Anderson, an NBA player with the New Orleans Pelicans, is in the spotlight right now after losing the woman he met two years ago at a photo shoot in the Bahamas.
A source told Star magazine that Gia had just learned Ryan was having an alleged affair before she killed herself.
“Gia loved him so much and couldn’t take the news that he had been with another woman,” a close friend tells Star. “It just doesn’t make sense. She was so sweet and beautiful, but obviously so unhappy inside. It’s tragic that she chose to hang herself.”
Other sources shared with TMZ that Gia was “upset” about her “rocky relationship with her boyfriend.”
By Tuesday night Gia was put on life support when she couldn’t breathe on her own. Her close friend, Melinda Farina, asked for everyone to pray that Gia get through her horrible ordeal. Unfortunately, she never came out of it and passed away Wednesday afternoon when brain and organ functions were not longer working. She was said to be surrounded by her mother, boyfriend, and other close friends when she died.
Gia’s family released this statement following her death on Wednesday:
“Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn (on Wednesday),” the family said in a statement. “Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other lifelong friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites.”
“Loved ones and fans will remember Gia Allemand as a caring woman who loved her family and was well-known for her compassion towards animals and mission to rescue homeless pets.”
