The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 Gets Negative Reviews

Early reviews of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 have been rather negative. They viewed the movie ahead of its official release later this week.

The penultimate movie chronicling the novel series written by Stephanie Meyer is to be released to the public on November 18 but critics at advance screenings are not impressed.

Variety reviewer Justin Chang was disappointed that so many dramatic opportunities from the book were missed. He seems to have been left with a feeling that the movie was somewhat shallow, with no real “sense of darkness or danger.”

Perhaps too much emphasis was placed on the Edward and Bella love story? Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter seemed to think so but it seems even the love story didn’t tick the boxes the critics were looking for. He did however say that it was well acted by real life couple Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

Brent Simon of Screen Daily was not so impressed with the movie’s stars or with Taylor Lautner. In fact the latter comes under particular scrutiny as “largely soapy and melodramatic.” Ouch!

Simon went on to criticize the movie as having an obvious plot and cinematography, which ruined any possible dramatic tension.

Oh dear! So the critics are not at all impressed with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. Has hearing this spoiled your appetite for the movie, or are you still as excited as ever for its big screen debut?
