The winner of Dancing With The Stars 2011, J.R. Martinez, was on of the celebrity presenters at Sunday night’s CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The event honors regular people who do something to help out other people.
The event was hosted by Anderson Cooper, and other celebrity presenters included Piers Morgan, model Christy Turlington Burns, Glee star Chris Colfer, Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara and Rachel Crow, who was recently a shock elimination from The X Factor USA.
Miley Cyrus with The Climb and Kid Rock with Care provided the musical entertainment.
Robin “Mother Robin” Lim, an American was named the 2011 CNN Hero of the Year. She offers free prenatal care, birthing services and medical aid to Indonesian women who would otherwise be unable afford such services.
Upon receiving the honor, Lim said,
“Every baby’s first breath on Earth could be one of peace and love. Every mother should be healthy and strong. Every birth could be safe and loving. But our world is not there yet.”
So that is why she does the work that she does.
Lim was chosen as the winner of the CNN Heroes Award after an 11-week vote on CNN.com, the network.
Her prize is $250,000 for her cause, and along with all the other Top Ten listed in the running for the award, she gets $50,000.
