‘DWTS’ Brooke Burke-Charvet Has Thyroid Cancer, She Shares Shocking News

“Dancing with the Stars” co-host, Brooke Burke-Charvet announced Thursday that she has thyroid cancer. The star said she never thought she would get a phone call like she did from her doctor about such a serious diagnosis. Stunned with the news, she posted a video and talked about her condition.

Charvet said, “I need to have thyroid surgery and a thyroidectomy, which means I’m going to have a nice big scar right here across my neck.”

Ironically she feels amazing.

“I never ever, ever thought I was going to get that phone call with bad news,” the 41-year-old mother of four said. “I feel really good and actually I’ve never felt better.”

Cancer is never good news, but the “DWTS” host went on to add that the doctor told her this type of cancer is actually the “good” kind.

“I’m going to be fine. And I feel really really strong,” she continued. “Doctors say this is a good kind of cancer to have,” she says. “Good cancer! That sounds so crazy. But my doctor did tell me this is a happily-ever-after ending kind of thing. I’m going to fight through this.”

Being in a situation that puts Brooke in the hands of others makes her a little uncomfortable.

“I’m so used to being in control and taking care of everybody and my kids and now I find myself in this really out-of-control situation.”

It’s not know when Brooke Burke-Charvet will have her thyroid surgery. She has a few more weeks of “Dancing with the Stars” on ABC then she’ll probably have the procedure done.
