Drea de Matteo and Shooter Jennings Welcome Baby Boy, Waylon

The former “Sopranos” star Drea de Matteo (39) and her fiancé, Shooter Jennings (31) welcomed the birth of baby boy, Waylon Albert “Blackjack” Jennings, yesterday. He is the couple’s second child.

The birth took place in Los Angeles yesterday and mother and baby are said to be doing well. The proud father Tweeted the news of the birth of his second child, a brother to the couple’s 3-year-old daughter, Alabama Gypsy Rose.

Shooter is the son of country singer, Waylon Jennings, after whom the baby is named. The baby’s grandfather, Waylon, famously escaped death while he was touring with Buddy Holly as his bass player. He was due to be a passenger on the plane that crashed and killed the “Peggy Sue” singer on February 3, 1959, but gave up his seat to singer-and-songwriter J.P. ‘The Big Bopper’ Richardson, who also died in the crash.

The baby’s mother Drea De Matteo famously played Adriana on the hit HBO show “The Sopranos” but also had a guest role on last season’s showing of “Desperate Housewives”, while fiancé Jennings has been working hard with his band, Hierophant. The couple have been together for more than nine years and became engaged on June 11, 2009, when Jennings proposed onstage during a show with Hierophant at the Stanley Center in Utica, New York.
