Dr. Murray filed the doctor’s legal docs last Friday. His law team are arguing that Joe Jackson does not have the necessary legal standing to even file the lawsuit. Michael Jackson cut his father, Joe, from whom he was estranged for a long time, out of his will. He did not support him financially.
The legal documents state that “Joe Jackson further has no standing to sue pursuant to…in that he was not dependent upon the decedent for support and therefore Joe Jackson has no subject matter jurisdiction, alternatively, in personam jurisdiction to sue….Defendants request that the Plaintiff’s case be dismissed, alternatively, that the Plaintiff go forth without recovery from these Defendants.”
Thriller star Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009. His autopsy reported that the singer died from acute propofol intoxication. There is disagreement over whether Dr. Conrad Murray administered the fatal dose of Propofol which induced a heart attack, or whether it was Michael Jackson himself.
Dr. Murray’s trial for involuntary manslaughter, is expected to begin in August. If he is convicted of the charge, Murray could be sent to state prison for up to four years. He is currently denying all charges and is reportedly determined to clear his name. He has stated that he would be unwilling to accept any kind of a plea deal; however, one has not been offered to him at this time.
