Jenelle Evans, the nineteen-year-old “Teen Mom” star allegedly caught on camera staging a vicious attack on another girl says she is prepared to take it to trial if the judge doesn’t offer a deal. That is in just the first of her court appearances this week.
Evans was in court yesterday in Brunswick County, North Carolina when the case was postponed to a later date. Jenelle is hoping to be offered a plea bargain but if not, she says she will go all the way to a trial. Also, Jenelle earns too much money so she cannot have a public defendant and must hire her own attorney.
Her attorney, Dustin Sullivan, planned before they got in to court that it was Jenelle’s intention to fight the charges.
“We’ll take this to trial,” he said. “If the district attorney doesn’t offer a deal to Jenelle we’re prepared to have a trial.”
Sullivan is now said to be working with the District Attorney to come to a settlement.
The charges laid against Jenelle Evans are assault and “affray for fighting”. The charges were brought after video footage of her fighting with Brittany Truett, was made public. Truett was also arrested, as was a third girl, Brittany Maggard, for the incident.
But Jenelle Evans also has another date in court this week. On Friday, she will be back to answers charges of breaking and entering, for which she was arrested in 2010.
