Katie Holmes filing for divorce from Tom Cruise is the big celebrity news of the moment. In reality, we will probably never know exactly why they are divorcing, just as we probably never know that about her friends. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be plenty of rumors claiming to know what put the final nail in the coffin of that marriage.
One of the most recent reports claims that Katie is divorcing Tom in a bid to save their daughter Suri from a particularly disturbing Scientology ritual called Sec Checking.
Sec Checking (security checking) is a form of interrogation where a so-called ethics officer asks numerous questions of an individual church member while they hold the electrode handles on an e-meter. Apparently the aim is to seek out ‘areas of spiritual distress.’
This process is undergone by Scientologists from age 6. For children, the questioning is shortened to around ninety-nine questions, such as:
- What has somebody told you not to tell?
- Have you ever decided you did not like some member of your family?
- Have you ever done something you were very much ashamed of?
- Have you ever taken something belonging to somebody else and never given it back?
- Have you ever refused to obey an order from someone you should obey?
- Have you ever gotten yourself dirty on purpose?
Can it just be a coincidence that Suri just turned 6 in April and now Holmes files for divorce?
Back in 2005 Katie Holmes is said to have watched Cruise’s older children, Isabella Jane Cruise and Connor Cruise, being subjected to a sec check, and she’s now freaked out about it happening to Suri.
Like I said, we’ll never know if this is why Katie Holmes wants out of her marriage to Scientologist Tom Cruise. And anyway, we don’t know what the custody arrangements will eventually be. So we don’t know if the divorce will get Suri out of going through the children’s sec check. But we do know Scientologists perform this ritual. And we do know those are some of the questions.
Would you want your kid to go through that?
