Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria and Marcia Cross are set to earn almost $12 million for the eighth season of the show and an option for a ninth. That means they will be paid more than $326,000 per episode, a significant pay rise from last season.
The show follows a group of women living on the same street in America, all close friends. Teri plays airhead Susan Mayer, Felicity is mother-of-five Lynette Scavo, Marcia portrays neat-freak Bree Van de Kamp and Eva is sexy housewife Gabrielle Solis.
The Housewives have been negotiating the pay settlement with network ABC since January. As always, Teri Hatcher negotiated individually. But talks were further delayed when Marcia Cross hired a new lawyer just last week.
However, it now seems that it’s a done deal. The four women are all expected t sign contracts in the next few days. That would make them the highest paid women on US TV, but their salaries are still well short of those handed out to guys like Charlie Sheen, who took home $1.8 million per episode of “Two and a Half Men” and Hugh Laurie, who gets $367,000 for each episode of “House. James Gandolfini also got over $1 million per episode for the final season of “The Sopranos”.
“Desperate Housewives” newcomer Vanessa Williams will return to her role for series eight, but it is not yet known whether creator and executive producer, Marc Cherry, will be working on this season. He has a new show “Hallelujah” and had previously said that he would not return to “Desperate Housewives.”
That’s a big chunk of change per episode, isn’t it?
