The women finally caught a break in the “Desperate Housewives” finale Sunday night. Bree was on trial for the murder of Gaby’s stepfather and it all came together by the end of the show. All of the ladies took on new opportunities and found happiness. It was a wonderful way to wrap up eight years of dark secrets and dysfunctional drama.
Susan contemplated taking a job in New York after Susan Mayfair returned to Wisteria Lane to offer her a job. She and Tom reconciled then ultimately chose to move and remained happy. Bree was let off the hook for Alejandro’s murder when a dying Mrs. McCluskey told the court she murdered him. Due to her illness, she wasn’t sentenced. Gaby and Carolos were ready to take responsibility, but Mrs. McCluskey wanted to do Bree’s lawyer, Trip, one last favor as well as her friends.
Other “Desperate Housewives” finale scenes included Renee being the bridezilla from hell. She and Ben finally married after he was thrown in jail. Susan’s daughter, Julie, went into labor as they were on their way to Renee’s wedding. She delivered the baby and Susan brought herself to tell the women she was moving with Julie to raise the baby.
Gaby was offered a VP job at work and eventually became so successful she had her own fashion line on the Home Shopping Network. She and Carlos relocate to California and continue their arguing as husband and wife.
As for Bree, before Karen McCluskey confessed to murdering Alejandro, she let her know that Trip is really a good guy. Bree learned this throughout the finale episode and gave Trip another chance. They wound up together and eventually moved to Kentucky where she joined a women’s conservative group and was voted into the Kentucky legislature.
While Susan took one last spin around Wisteria Lane, all of the ghosts from those who have died watched her go by. Mike, Mary Alice, and all the characters who were killed over the years were seen.
The “Desperate Housewives” finale was bittersweet as fans got a taste of nostalgia and saw the characters move on from Wisteria Lane. At least the women finally got a break in the end without anything lingering over their heads. The secrets were gone and life moved on happily for everyone.
