Demi Moore said that it was “with great sadness and a heavy heart” that she has decided to end her six-year marriage to Ashton Kutcher, following reports of Ashton’s alleged infidelity with several women.
Moore (49) released a statement through her publicist to announce the formal split.
“As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life,” she said, admitting that it was a difficult time for her and her family.
Demi called for privacy and compassion while dealing with the divorce. They married in September 2005 and there were rumors of other Ashton Kutcher affairs from the early days. Last year, more rumors surfaced, but pressure mounted on the celebrity couple in the last couple of months over allegations Kutcher cheated on his wife with Sara Leal on the night of their sixth wedding anniversary.
Demi’s weight has plummeted dramatically since news of the marital strife broke.
A few minutes after Demi Moore announced the split, Ashton Kutcher Tweeted his response to the divorce announcement (presumably after having got it checked out by his team.) It said:
“I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK.”
We hope Demi and Ashton both get through this tough time in as good a shape mentally and physically as they can. A divorce is tough on anyone, especially A-list celebrities.
