LA Galaxy soccer star David Beckham and his pop star wife Victoria Beckham have proudly announced the birth of their baby girl. Victoria gave birth on Sunday morning by pre-arranged C-section at Cedars-Sinai hospital.
The baby girl weighed in at 7lbs 10oz, a very healthy weight considering her notoriously thin mom, who retained a trim figure throughout her pregnancy. The little girl, named Harper Seven, is the first daughter for the former Spice Girl and her husband David.
David Beckham took to Twitter on Sunday to announce that Victoria is “doing really well” and that their three boys are “delighted” with their little sister.
Harper was born at 7.55am (LA time) by Cesarean section, as she had with her previous three children. The couple have been married since 1999.
So why the strange name? Well, when their previous three children are called Brooklyn (11), Romeo (8) and Cruz (5), they couldn’t really opt for Jane now, could they?
But a source told “The Sun” newspaper in the UK that there’s no hidden meaning behind Harper; it was simply chosen because of its “lovely sound.” Seven was chose as a name because she was born in the seventh month around 7am. The couple also see it as a “lucky and spiritual number.” Added to that, David Beckham wore the #7 shirt for his former soccer clubs Manchester United and England.
Prince William and Princess Catherine texted their congratulations to the Beckhams and members of Victoria’s former group The Spice Girl pals Tweeted their love. Emma Bunton sent a “big kiss” and Mel B was excited for another “Spice baby” but wished it was her!
