The dancers are getting better which means the competition is getting stiffer! Who will bring it tonight and who will fall to injuries and fatigue? Chaz and Nancy were the two lowest scores, however, they were BOTH saved by their adoring fans and got tons of votes. Will voters save them both this week if they fail to get higher scores? It’s movie night, so there are lots of…interesting costumes. And I’m not surprised when I see Chaz coming out wearing what looks to be a Rocky robe!
First up is Chynna and Tony who are dancing to Mission Impossible. Tony actually comes down from the ceiling! But does the movie theme mix with the tango? Chynna looked a bit stiff and like she missed a few moves once it was over. She was almost in tears before the judges even started! They were actually nice to her while telling her she lost her moves and panicked. She didn’t lose her composure though. Scores = 21.
Next up is David and Kym, who are dancing to the Raiders of the Lost Ark theme. Will David really pull out a whip? Not sure, but he swung in on a vine! And there was the whip crack. He looks a lot more confident of himself and there dance is pretty good. Will the judges like their rendition? Bruno loved it! Carrie noticed the confidence too. Their final score ends up being a 23.
Did I mention Cher is in the audience?
The next couple to perform is Carson and Anna. They are dancing to the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean. Can they actually waltz to that song? They did a pretty good job, and they ended with a cute run up the stairs to knock down a pink pirate flag. It doesn’t seem like the judges loved it, though. Well, maybe a little, because he was entertaining. They ended up with 20 points.
Nancy and Tristan come to dance to the Flash Gordon theme song. Huh? Not the movie I would have guessed her to pick. Can she pick up her scores this week or at least her technical ability? She flashes some leg, but I don’t think that is what the theme meant…maybe she will distract the judges! Actually, she might not need to, because her technical ability did seem a lot better. Len just nailed her on the performance and the crowd booed her. Bruno told her she needed to be a ball breaker. Ouch! Their score was 21, which was much better than I thought!
Hope and Maks come out with adorable costumes on and dance to the theme from Toy Story. While the costumes might be really cute, the dancing was…cute too. Not exciting, but just cute. Will the judges shred them for their lack of pizzazz too? Bruno called them lovely. Carrie Ann said it was refreshing and unique. Len said she needed more polish and to practice more. Maks thought he was crazy. Their score was a 24, which is the highest of the night so far!
The next up is Rob and Cheryl who got Superman as their theme song. Not sure what Cheryl’s costume is about, but Rob looks like Clark Kent! He looks more confident too, so the men are really bringing it out tonight! Where are the tights and the cape for him though? No tights, but Cheryl rips his shirt open to reveal a K…cute. Carrie Ann still likes him. A lot. Len looks peeved again and said so. Has he liked anybody tonight? I don’t think so. Their score was a 24, another tie!
One of the most consistent dancers this season has been Ricki. Her and Derek are dancing to the Psycho theme, which is very hard by the appearance of their practices. The opening sequence looks really good though! They did awesome and the judges thought so too. They got the first tens of the season – and they got two! 29 points for the couple.
Two dances left – one on the bottom and one near the top. Chaz and Lacey are up to dance to the theme from Rocky. Surprise, surprise. Their costumes are silky robes and look pretty cool. Will their dance be better than last week? The intro was, because they brought Richard Simmons in for training during the week. Besides the problems with costumes getting in the way, Chaz actually looked to be doing a lot better. The crowd loved it. Did I mention Cher was watching? Bruno liked it and commented he was getting stronger too. It brought Carrie Ann to tears. The score is a 21, which seems a little disappointing, even though it was their highest score of the season.
Last up is JR and Karina. He moved the whole audience to tears last week, can he do it again and finally make it to the top of the scorecard? He has the Foxtrot, which will be tough. They dance to the theme of the Pink Panther and bring the entertainment factor too. Carrie Ann thought it fell flat and didn’t like the humor. Len said he was the best male dancer of the night! Their score is a 26.
The top spot goes to Ricki – again!
