Scherzinger definitely is going to be one of the judges, after apparently being shuffled from a co-presenting role. But her ex-manager says she was never intended as a presenter of the show.
Jeff Haddad, Scherzinger’s former manager, says that Simon Cowell was always planning to give the job to the Pussycat Doll. He believes that firing Cheryl Cole from the panel was a publicity stunt to boost interest in the show in America.
“Simon Cowell always wanted her as a judge. There was never a question that she wouldn’t get it. I had long discussions with Simon about her judging the US show and she was always a front-runner for that job,” he said.
Officially, the reasoning for the firing was given as a lack of chemistry between Cheryl Cole and Paula Abdul. Faced with a choice between the two, the show’s bosses thought they couldn’t afford to get rid of Abdul but Cole was expendable to the American public.
But Haddad says Cheryl Cole was merely used as part of the publicity machine and that Nicole was never intended to be a host of the show. He also refutes another argument about why Cheryl Cole lost out on an “X Factor USA” judging role.
“I think Cheryl’s accent never came into it – it was an excuse. Americans are used to all sorts of accents.” And of course, the show is to be hosted by Welshman, Steve Jones.
“X Factor” reps have denied the claims. But what do you think? Was the whole Cheryl Cole judging and firing just to get publicity? Did you want to see Cheryl on the show?
