Charlie Sheen is Tweeting again, and this time it is for a positive cause. He has announced that he is organising a bipolar awareness walk to make people more aware of the illness. The walk takes place in Toronto on Friday evening.
Sheen asked his fans to meet him at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Toronto at 6pm Friday. The idea is to walk with him to the 1.2 miles to Toronto’s Massey Hall. He received mixed reviews for his performance there on Thursday night and will perform there again tonight.
Sheen’s main Tweet inviting people to join him to raise awareness for bipolar disorder read, “Stop the Stigma. Bipolar Awareness Walk. Please join me at 6pm at the Ritz tonight! Raise Money! Raise Awareness! #BIPOLAR #BIWINNING.”
Sheen Tweeted his intention to take donations for the Canadian group OBAD. The Organization for Bipolar Affective Disorders is said to be matching all donations dollar for dollar.
Over the last few months, people have speculated that Charlie Sheen suffers from bipolar disorder, which is characterized by periods of depression couple with periods of extreme euphoria. The nearest he has come to such discussion is to say he is “bi-winning” and that his brain is “maybe not from this particular terrestrial realm.”
Actress Catherine Zeta Jones has recently stated that she has received treatment for bipolar disorder, but Charlie Sheen’s rep is adamant that his decision to launch this awareness walk had nothing to do with the actress’ announcement.
What do you think of Charlie Sheen’s decision to launch a Bipolar Awareness Walk? Some good to finally come from Sheen’s mass media attention?
