Charlie Sheen may have been grabbing a lot of headlines since his firing from the hit TV show that made him a household name, but it’s easy to forget that he’s been courting controversy for over twenty years now.
Last night in Vancouver, Charlie Sheen spilled the beans live on stage about the 1990 accidental shooting of Kelly Preston. In his “Torpedo of Truth” show, he claimed that Kelly actually shot herself!
Kelly Preston sustained minor injuries in the incident. At the time, it was alleged that Charlie himself had accidentally pulled the trigger. Kelly was his then-fiancée. She was hit in the arm by the bullet.
However, after over twenty years, Charlie Sheen has now claimed that he was not the one to pull the trigger – Kelly was.
In last night’s “My Violent Torpedo of Truth” show, which has hit Vancouver and just keeps rolling out the stories, the TV star said that he was downstairs drinking coffee at the time when he heard a gun go off upstairs.
Going to investigate, he found Preston standing naked at the top of the stairs covered in blood. So what happened?
If Charlie’s version of events is to be believed, Kelly picked up a pair of his pants from the bathroom floor. The just happened to contain a revolver. The gun fell out of the pants pocket onto the floor. The gun apparently went off as it fell to the floor. The bullet hit the toilet and the shrapnel hit Preston in the leg.
So he says the accidental shooting was actually nothing to do with him. Except it was his gun left loaded in his pants. But surely we can be forgiven for blaming Sheen a little bit more than that. After all, Kelly famously called off the engagement soon after the shooting incident.
Kelly is now happily married to John Travolta. Hopefully, he’s more careful about not leaving loaded firearms lying about the house.
