Is Charlie Sheen growing up and calming down? He made a surprise appearance on the 63rd Annual Emmy Awards on Sunday night. Instead of spitting obscenities and venom, he had a few kind words to say to the cast and crew of Two and a Half Men, in which he once starred.
He even showed a return to the sparkling wit for which we all secretly love Charlie Sheen. He presented the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series: his old category as he called it, with good humor.
There must have been a few hearts beating faster and a few people holding their breath as Sheen began by saying that he wanted to get something off his chest and “say a few words to everybody here from Two and a Half Men”
But we need not have worried. Charlie Sheen was on gracious form.
“From the bottom of my heart, I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season. We spent eight wonderful years together and I know you will continue to make great television,” he said.
His former supporting actor, Jon Cryer, was seen enthusiastically applauding Sheen’s speech as he presented the award to Jim Parsons for The Big Bang Theory.
Sheen even recently told Jay Leno “I would have fired my ass too!” So there was no tiger blood, no warlocks, and maybe, finally, Charlie Sheen is back on the track towards winning. Perhaps we should be watching out for him back on the receiving end of an Emmy next year. Wouldn’t that be good to see?
