The star, formerly the highest paid person on American TV was fired from his hit sitcom, “Two and a Half Men”, on Monday, but bounced right back, scoring a potentially lucrative merchandising and licensing deal with Live Nation promoters. You just can’t keep this man down, can you!
Live nation bosses are planning the online sale of Sheen memorabilia initially, but then plan to get the goods, such as t-shirts and coffee mugs, into various US chain stores such as Wal-Mart and Target.
Sheen is excited about the deal, putting forward his own ideas for the product line and the catchphrases to be featured, which are to be taken from his recent whirlwind media blitz on Warner and CBS bosses as well as his estranged wife and anyone perceived as being critical of him. Some good ones include: “Winning!” which now seems rather prophetic, rather than pathetic, as it seemed at the time, and “I’m tired of pretending like I’m not special.”
Yesterday, Sheen reportedly said that his being fired was a very good thing and would only work in his favor. According to the Senior Vice-President for the Tour Marketing and Promotion of Live Nation, Joey Scoleri,
“Being fired has only made him more popular because he is standing up for himself. He is a folk hero.”
Scoleri hopes to have some of the Charlie Sheen merchandise on store shelves as early as next week.
