Casey Abrams American Idol 2011: Wildcard Save Sparks Controversy!

American Idol 2011 hopeful Casey Abrams was just minutes away from being eliminated from the competition tonight when a ray of hope came his way in the form of a wildcard from the judges.

Randy, Jennifer and Steven only had one wildcard left for the entire season and they decided to use it tonight to save Casey Abrams and extend his time on the show.

Abrams has a lot of fans in his corner but has struggled during his time on the show. A few weeks ago, Casey was hospitalized for the second time and learned that he suffers from ulcerative colitis.

Regardless of his breaks from the show, Casey seemed to have a lot of viewer support this season, which is why it came as a complete shock when he was announced as the contestant going home tonight.

When the judges told Casey he was saved, he truly looked stunned.

Fans of the show are already speaking on out twitter about tonight’s news. Some believe that Casey deserves another chance while others believe tonight should have been the end of the road for the Idol hopeful.

The question is: Did the judges make the right decision in using their last wildcard to save Casey Abrams or should he have been sent home tonight?

I don’t like pia or Jacob! And i would be happy if they sent either one of the
Home, jacob isnt contemporary and we already have a lot of singers like Pia.I think they made a good choice saving Casey he deserves it and is very humble. I also like Scotty he’s down to earth and good for a 17 year old kid.

They should have let Casey go. Or Stefano, or Thia, or anybody else for that matter. There is great talent in this batch of American Idol contestants. Casey could have made himself a great career even without a ‘save’ from the judges.
It would not be surprising if one of those even in the top 24 became a famous recording artist. Take a cue from Jennifer Hudson.

I like Casey, I really do. He’s a talented young man with a HUGE carrier ahead of him. HOWEVER, I think it was way too early to use the save. I think it will come down to Pia, Jacob and Scotty. James is good, but a little too cocky. I’m just sayin’…

He deserved to stay. Casey Will be able to bring something different to the music industry. It is hard to be a successful musician without some kind of uniqueness. Ex. How many people have shut down Greyson chance, rebecca black, and Cody Simpson for “trying to imitate bieber”? They’re all young, they’re music style is extremely similar, and the lyrics are simple. Casey always takes risks, and he has talent in vocals and is able to play a variety of instruments. Regardless if he is the next American idol, some other music industry will pick him up.

He wouldn’t have won the whole thing, and already has a strong following. They should have let him go, to sign his record deal and make his millions, and save the “save” for when the voters accidentally send James or Pia home.

I think Casey deserved the second chance he is obviously talented although he is losing his roots. He has a jazzy voice and I want to hear the Casey we heard during audition week. As for his looks he shouldn’t have to change them. If you have a problem with his looks.. well than that’s your problem. I find him to be very attractive honestly, his sense of humor and wild hair makes it even better, if people want a pretty boy idol they can take it I rather have a talented musician than him look like some stereotypical singing heartthrob. What matters at the end of the say is his voice not his face and if you can’t see behind that, I feel sorry for you.

Casey has incredible talent as is the most gifted musician on the show. He does, however, need to examine his image. His scruffy looks are not contemporary and probably causing a lot of people to overlook his musical talent. To do well in the entertainment industry he needs to consider the first impression he makes. Might be time for the stylists on Idol to have a few words with him. J-Lo could also speak up.
