Bret Michaels Back in Hospital

Poor Bret Michaels is once again suffering medical problems. It’s kind of ironic that he should be the front man for the rock band Poison, because his body seems to be getting messed up.

First he was in the hospital with a major medical issue (brain haemorrhage), and now he’s back! The doctors have found two problems with his body: he had a mini stroke, and he’s got a hole in his heart. Fortunately, it seems he got to the hospital in a timely fashion; the doctors were able to treat the stroke, and they’re looking at what can be done about his heart. These days, a stroke is not a death sentence, nor does it mean you’ll end up paralyzed; a mega dose of special steroids and blood thinners can prevent permanent brain damage. Thank God for that; it’d be a major pity to lose such a talented artist.

At last reports, Bret is actually able to get up from his hospital bed, walk around, and interact with others. As for the hole, the doctors will have to assess the size and extent to which it is affecting his blood flow. If it’s small, they may be able to ignore it. If not, he’s looking at surgery!

But, for now, it looks like the doctors are going to treat him on an out-patient basis and monitoring him closely. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed on this one, people; Bret is far too young to be lost to us.
