The legendary screen actress, Elizabeth Taylor, has died at the age of 79. The news is yet to break officially – we wanted you to be among the first to know that English-born actress, Elizabeth Taylor, the winner of two Academy Awards, is dead.

Reports indicate that Taylor died at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she had been hospitalized since February 10, where for treatment for congestive heart failure. She died in the early hours of this morning, surrounded by her children, Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd and Maria Burton.

There were obviously major fears for Elizabeth Taylor’s health when she was diagnosed with such a serious health problem, but as late as this week her publicist had said the actress was in a stable condition.

However, it seems that her health deteriorated further from this point. Doctors had even talked of discharging her home to her Bel Air mansion

Taylor celebrated her 79th birthday in the medical facility, on February 27, 2011. But then, far from talk of release, her health took a dramatic turn for the worse after her congestive heart failure, first diagnosed in 2004, led to her being put on a respirator. She had reportedly had around 40 medical procedures in the 7 years since her diagnosis of congestive heart failure but it seems that doctors could do nothing this time.

Today, the reported date of Elizabeth Taylor’s death, is 53 years to the day that the screen legend was widowed when her third husband, producer Michael Todd, died in a private plane crash. She went on to have 8 marriages but was single, divorced, at he time of her death.
