If you thought escaping the paparazzi was bad, you should try avoiding six young kids when you want to kiss! But Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have to do both. It seems they have that worked out, even though the kids are keen to see their parents married!
Brad Pitt gave an intimate interview with USA Today, and opened up about life with his partner Angelina Jolie and their six kids, all aged between 2 and 9. He talked about trying to create a sense of normalcy for their children.
“We’re hunted,” Pitt said. “Our kids have to live behind a gate. Outside, there are people with cameras… But I’ll take the trade-off. I never knew I was capable of experiencing so much love.”
Pitt seemed to revel in his role as a Dad, talking of rescuing his children from bad dreams, making dinner and packing their suitcases in minimal, military style. He admitted that Jolie was better at the latter! But he said the Pitt-Jolie household was always full of fun.
“Angie and I do everything we can to carve out some semblance of normalcy for them, to re-create the kinds of moments that were special for us,” Pitt explains. “It’s not unusual for the kids to be covered in paint. We have mud fights. It’s chaos from morning until the lights go out, and sometimes after that.”
However, despite their deep love for their children, the two movie megastars make sure they get their private time, too.
“There are no secrets at our house. We tell the kids, ‘Mom and Dad are going off to kiss.’ They go, “Eww, gross!’ But we demand it.”
So it’s that easy? Well, it is when you have a personal nanny for each child, I guess!
But there is one area where the Pitt-Jolie kids are exerting a little pressure. They want mom and dad to marry! While they were going to wait for national marriage equality, with the kids asking, Pitt says it’s something they’ll have to look at.
