Beyonce on Lip-Synching Scandal: ‘I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track’

On Thursday Beyonce addressed the elephant in the room during her Super Bowl halftime show 2013 conference. She sang “The Star-Spangled Banner”beautifully then asked the media, “Any more questions?.”

The “Single Ladies” singer admitted to having help with a “pre-recorded” track during her performance at President Obama’s inauguration. She didn’t want anything to go wrong with her performance with limited prep time.

“I am a perfectionist … It was a live television show and a very important moment for me,” Beyonce said at the press conference. “And one thing about me: I practice ’till my feet bleed. I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra. It was a live television show… Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check… I did not feel comfortable singing live.”

The superstar opened up about rumors she didn’t actually sing and lip synched to her song. A lot was going on at once surrounding the inauguration and she didn’t feel confident about risking a major — or even a minor — flaw.

“Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking the risk … so I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry,” Beyonce said. “And I’m very proud of my performance.”
Beyonce is now rehearsing her big Super Bowl halftime show performance for Sunday. There’s a lot of speculation that she will have a reunion with Destiny’s Child on-stage with former band members, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. There’s even talk she might be joined by her husband, Jay-Z, for the song, “Crazy Love.”
