We already know that Ashley Hebert is looking for love on the new season of ABC’s “The Bachelorette,” which premieres Monday, May 23 at 9|8c on ABC. But she is being warned off looking for it in one particular direction – with contestant West Lee. His previous wife drowned in a bathtub in mysterious circumstances.
West Lee (30) is an attorney from South Carolina. He was widowed on September 9, 2007 when his wife drowned in their bathtub. Lee was in another room and the drowning happened shortly after the couple argued.
Lee is just one of the 25 hopeful hunks bidding for the affections of Ashley Hebert. But his former mother-in-law says that the Bachelorette should steer clear of this particular contestant.
“I believe that West was my daughter’s enabler, and I just feel he had something to do with Sarah’s death,” Dianna Sapp exclusively told “Star” magazine.
The dramatic story is to be told in the magazine this Friday.
The inquest into Sarah’s drowning ruled it an accidental death, but there is no denying that the circumstances surrounding the death were rather bizarre. West admitted to the police that he argued with Sarah shortly before she died. The argument was about three car accidents in which she had been involved in a matter of days. West also admitted that they had smoked pot.
In the police report of West Lee’s statement, he reported that “After several minutes the victim stood up and said ‘I’ve just had an epiphany.’”
She apparently kissed West and then locked herself in the bathroom. That was the last time he saw her alive but he allegedly spoke to her. Calling out to her, he was worried to get no reply but apparently Sarah eventually called out, “It’s okay, I was under the water.”
However, an hour later, West, having not heard any more noise for a while, forced open the door and found his wife dead, her face under the water.
West also came under fire from his former father-in-law in the interview. He told of how Sarah was in a rehab facility until shortly before she died but West took her out. He blames West for getting his daughter into partying and drinking.
Sarah’s parents think West is bad news and that Ashley Hebert should get him out A.S.A.P. But will she? Find out when the new season of “The Bachelorette.”
