Bachelor 2012 Season 16 Hometown Dates: Ben and Courtney’s Fake Wedding

Last night, we saw the season 16 Bachelor, Ben Flajnik visit the hometowns of his four remaining ladies: Lindzi, Kacie, Nicki and Courtney. It’s also where Ben gets to meet their parents, and for at least one of Ben’s potential suitors, that’s where it all went wrong.

First, Ben went to Lindzi’s house. Well, actually, before that they went horseback riding and she opened up about her previous relationships. She thought she would marry her ex but her family saw some red flags about him and were less surprised than her by the breakup.

They rode a horse and buggy to her parent’s house and it’s all very civilized as they meet the cute dog and drink Chardonnay with the parents. It turns out her parents got married in the same City Hall in San Francisco where Ben and Lindzi had their first date.

After some buggy racing they went inside and Lindzi’s mom talks about her past relationship and she said she thinks Lindzi grew up a lot and is ready to be engaged. He also asked her dad for permission to eventually propose if the time comes. Harry thinks Ben would make a good son-in-law.

Their goodbye kiss is sweet and Lindzi said she wants to see them together in forty years. He thought he may be falling in love with her and wouldn’t change anything about the day because it was wonderful.

The second hometown date went to Kacie, where he is greeted by a marching band and Kacie twirling her baton. He enjoyed the performance and she ran into his arms after the performance was over.

She promised a date filled with surprised and revealed that the football field is where her grandparents met and it is named after her grandfather.

They have some wine before going to Lindzi’s parents house and winegrower Ben is made nervous by Lindzi telling him her Dad doesn’t drink.

That turns out to be the least of Ben’s problems.

Her mom said she is happy Kacie had the opportunity to be on the show but her dad remained skeptical. He says he not only doesn’t want to see Kacie hurt, but he doesn’t want Ben hurt either. He also warned Ben that if Kacie isn’t the one, he better let her know soon.

Shut up, Dad!

But then it was mom’s turn. She doesn’t like the idea of Kacie moving in with him before marriage. But she insisted to her Dad that she was in love with Ben. Feeling pushed around by her parents, poor Kacie left the hometown date more than ever.

Nicki got the third hometown date, which began with a huge shopping spree.

Whooaaa, where were the flowers for the other moms? We only see Ben present Lindzi’s mom with flowers. I thought it was nice that although Linzi’s parents are divorced they got together to meet Ben. Her mom noiced Lindzi’s strong connection with Ben.

They had a nice family dinner and Lindzi also said she is falling in love.

Next, Ben tried to work Courtney out, wondering what it is in her past that makes her batshit crazy… um…have difficulty getting on with other women in the Bachelor house.

The whole family said this is the happiest they have ever seen Courtney and they can see she loves Ben. They like him too.

Courtney’s Dad took Ben aside and asked if he is ready to take the ‘bet’ of marriage and said he is ready for a son-in-law and grandkids.

Is it just me or is this hometown date al about what Ben can be for Courtney and her family, whereas with the others, there seemed more of a focus on whether the couple are right for each other. Here is seems like they need Courtney married and Ben is good for her.

I can see how Courtney got to be how she is, I think.

But even I was surprised by Courtney’s next move on Ben.

They have a date in a park to have a picnic and talk about their feelings. It just so happens it is the park where Courtney hopes to get married there one day.

She had a surprise for him. OMG did Courtney have a surprise for Ben!

She staged a fake wedding. She had a bow tie, rings and books to write vows in. They wrote vows and then went to where a minister was waiting. They recited their vows and exchanged rings. It was creepy.

Then it was time for the Rose Ceremony. Kacie was eliminated and all the girls but Courtney hugged her. She just made a vague walk towards her when she saw Ben watching. But Kacie is left broken-hearted by Ben’s rejection.

I’m just left stunned by brazen Courtney. Hopefully I will come around for the Fantasy Dates next week.
