Bachelor 2011 Winner: Who Did Brad Womack Choose? Emily Maynard BUT…

Fans of the Bachelor have just learned that Emily Maynard was the lucky woman who won Brad Womack’s heart on the 2011 season of the show. Emily was the southern belle who stole the hearts of fans early on but struggled to overcome the heartbreak of her past.

Long story short, Emily was previously engaged to Nascar driver Ricky Hendrick. Ricky crashed his car and ended up retiring from racing but worked for his dad’s company Hendricks Motorsports. He was on his way to a race in 2004 and the plane crashed. All 10 people on the plane died. Emily was supposed to be on the plane that day but she wasn’t feeling well so she didn’t go. She found out 4 days later that she was pregnant with Ricky’s baby.

Brad and Emily struggled to find the balance between their love for each other and how they could realistically make their lives work together outside of the show and their struggles continued after taping had finished.

As many of you will see on the After the Rose Ceremony special (airing now in some time zones and a couple hours from now in others) Brad and Emily have already broken up once since the show. That’s right, they haven’t even seen each other and they’ve broken up.

I’m not saying the time apart and everything that’s happened in the media would be easy to overcome when you’re not physically together but to break up before even seeing each other for the first time is not the best sign for your ability to stay strong in the future.

There will be MUCH bigger problems these two will have to deal with throughout their lives. If they’re already breaking up before the ATFR taped, it doesn’t show much promise. Just my opinion.

Now that you know Brad and Emily are engaged but have already broken up once – do you think they’ll get married and stay together for years to come?
