Christopher (13) was taken to hospital after suffering broken bones and a collapsed lung in the boogie board accident in Malibu. Emergency services were called immediately as the teenager was having difficulty in breathing.
Writing on his Twitter account, the former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger thanked all the well-wishers who had voiced for their support for Christopher and his family in person and online.
Arnold said his youngest son, Christopher, is now doing much better. He added that the family hoped that he would soon be “back at full speed.”
Schwarzenegger and estranged wife Maria Shriver previously released a joint statement saying that the teenager is expected to make a “full recovery.”
In that first joint statement, Arnold and Maria sincerely thanked the paramedics and lifeguards who responded so swiftly as well as the doctors, nurses, emergency room and hospital staff who have cared for their son.
The former couple’s elder son Patrick also provided an update on his brother, Christopher, writing on his own Twitter account, “My brother is doing a lot better.”
Schwarzenegger and Shriver separated in May following 25 years of marriage. Maria had filed for a divorce on the grounds of Arnold’s adultery with their former housekeeper with whom he has a teenage son. The couple are requesting joint custody of their two under-age children, including Christopher.
